ABILITIES
swordsmanship once the rival of the greatest swordsman in the world, shanks is an impressive swordsman in his own right β and despite having lost his dominant hand, he is still one of the most powerful opponents one might face. his signature move, kamusari (divine departure), which he learned from the late pirate king gol d. roger, can be immensely devastating even with his non-dominant hand.

HAKI & OPT-IN
shanks is an extremely powerful user of all three types of haki (below), but it is also very rare that he uses these skills offensively without due cause. unless he's in enemy territory or feels sufficiently threatened (or enraged), it's very unlikely most folks will encounter his haki actively; passively, he is effectively an empath and possesses an incredible amount of control over his own mind and presence. please comment below if you'd like to opt-in, otherwise i will operate on opt-out by default (unless we've discussed otherwise).
conqueror haki
domination temporarily dominates the will of "lesser" minds of any sentient creature, causing those affected to feel uneasy, intimidated, fearful, or simply submissive. can be unleashed even from great distances. those with greater mental fortitude will not be affected or will be affected less intensely.
incapacitation renders a person unconscious by overpowering their will. can be withstood with significant concentration but will make the person affected feel lightheaded. those with sufficient strength and willpower are not affected. can affect 100,000 people at once if not more. can be unleashed verbally or nonverbally; consciously or unconsciously.
pressure causes collateral damage to inanimate objects and structures around the user. generates powerful energy and shockwaves, which may exert extreme force on the surrounding area, and can also create a massive rift in the sky when two users clash.
infusion a method of augmenting a user's body or weapon to dramatically increase attack power. can cause damage without weapons ever clashing.
observation killing control over his metaphysical presence and aura, which prevents others from using observation haki on him to see the future.

emotion sensing allows the user to sense and empathize with the emotions and nature of others passively or actively. however, those who have significant control over their emotions can fool or mislead this sense.
intent sensing allows the user to sense another person's intent to act in the immediate future (typically during combat), serving as a form of precognition. the more killing intent exuded by a given enemy, the more predictable their attacks.

conqueror haki: to what extent are you comfortable with shanks dominating your character? how strong is their will or mental fortitude? would they be susceptible to incapacitation (given instigating circumstances)? keep in mind baseline humans are most susceptible to powerful haki; those with mind powers (psychics, telepaths) or those who are more attuned to their own mind (people who meditate frequently or people who are blindingly confident in themselves) would be able to withstand it better.
armament haki: shanks can't use this one on other people, but it can be used against them. let me know how much damage you'd be willing to let your character take if he saw such a need. there may also be a secret sexy application of this haki. see xxx haki below.
observation haki: (note: shanks usually keeps this haki on something like a simmer because when it's On it's very loud and overwhelming; so while it's not entirely off, he's usually operating at the bare minimum and shutting things out on purpose, but of course it can be fun to have certain things slip through or have him deliberately turn up the volume if you want to play with it for reasons.) can shanks sense your character's aura, which would allow him to find your character at any time or place if he wanted or needed to? would you want shanks to be able to feel if your character is close to death, dying, or dead? to what extent can he feel your character's emotions, should he choose to? are there any emotions your character might be hiding from themselves that he could pick up on? can he sense your character's strength or potential? can he sense your character's intent to act? would you be willing to have shanks see a vision of your character's immediate future to foster negative cr (these are typically limited to majorly destructive or violent encounters instigated by the person in the vision against someone shanks cares about, but we can fudge it a little if need be)? if so, what kind of destruction or violence would you want shanks to intercept?
hot haki: would your character be interested in learning haki? it would be a combination of meditation, yoga, martial arts, and swordplay. (only armament and observation can be taught, sorry to all the would-be conquerors.)
xxx haki: are you interested in shanks using haki during sex? to what extent? accidentally or deliberately? this could include: forced submission, breathplay, emotion sensing, hardening his dick with spiritual energy (probably would feel like an inflatable dildo idk we can workshop this), etc.

β AURA SENSING/LOCATING/HEALTH MONITORING β ye :) captain nurse shanks is on the job
β EMOTIONS β set's emotions are CHAOTIC AS FUCK; he's simultaneously believing in his own bullshit while also castigating himself for it while also begging someone to see through it while also honestly expressing it. there's no "truth" to his complexity, and a lot of emotions that seem hypocritical or in opposition, but are not. he's usually simmering at a combination of "duty-bound + pissed off" and "tsundere feral cat", and his most hidden feelings tend to be those of shame, dread and hopelessness.
β STRENGTH/POTENTIAL? β it is immense and, despite being a god, actually Unrealized? set's divinity has likely been corrupted, which means he's not at his full potential. right now he's only overseeing the desert/war, but he has a VAST and IMPORTANT role among the egyptian pantheon as their god of chaos, which upholds the meaning of order. so like, there's a lot of potential in him..... and a lot of strength. just physically/intellectually, emotionally or like, mentally, he's weak...

conqueror haki: hawk definitely has a strong will - he is extremely focused when it comes to having control of things and he's almost entirely shut off his vulnerability to most other people so it can't be used against him in theory. that being said, i think anyone with this ability would absolutely be able to push thru and overpower him, especially if they went to seek out the weaker parts of him which are still THERE just very, very repressed
armament haki: hawk is just a regular dude so he wouldn't have much defense against this, pls don't murder him shanks
observation haki:
c/ping this from koby bb but shanks can get a sense of just how much emotion hawk actually restrains at any given time - the effort of which can be seen in the colors of his aura which are usually any variation of muted grey blues - navy. the more desaturated the color, the more he's masking/hiding/repressing. when he's actually happy (and especially when he's around tim), the colors will become more vibrant and enriched. hawk def won't stand a chance against blocking anything fully if shanks chooses to read into it, but he'll might feel the resistance and reluctance at opening up in general, esp from a mostly-stranger like shanks!!
RE: future stuff - i actually would be super into this considering hawk's death mechanic is about to blow up in his face. right now, his aura is probably super charged and almost manic in a way, at least manic about sex and physical contact. his inhibitions have significantly lowered, so his aura will have altered. in the immediate future though he's going to have a bad time and hallucinate and end up isolating while he thinks about all the ex-parental figures he's disappointed and the ex-lovers he's fucked over/let down. so if shanks wants to try and give him a heads up i think he'll bristle. there won't be any immediate danger to anyone but he'll probably feel it when hawk's aura goes back to being grey as hell.
hot haki: no, he's lame and thinks this is like the equivalent of modern day crystals n stuff π
xxx haki: very extremely into this esp with their match - i think submission haki would be incredible tbqh esp with hawk underestimating him so severely. also emotion sensing very here for!! probably other stuff when they're further along and better acquainted.

conqueror haki: he's a witch, and specializes in conjuring demons and letting them possess him (they take over completely) or acting as their vessel (he uses their power without loss of autonomy). he's also generally pretty confident in his himself/his abilities so he's got a fair amount of mental fortitude, but doesn't have much experience with someone with powers like shanks. he'll put up a hell of a fight but will eventually lose. we can talk about it :>

- aura is deep reds/maybe some bits of grey/silver and this remains consistent regardless of mood, which is usually controlled - he's hard to read physically and emotionally. he'll leave a metallic taste in someone's mouth. his energy doesn't feel good at all (like pervasively wrong), and can be uncomfortable to be around for long periods of time. feel free to go wild about sensing where he is/etc
- a hidden emotion would be a constant state of guilt he tries to act like doesn't exist.
- power level is yikes dot com high, danger danger will robinson, and has the potential to keep growing. physically, he's strong in general and has a lot of experience fighting.
- intent to act/negative cr vibes is a yeeees. feel free! he's still summoning demons here and may accidentally kill someone so that'll be fun π€ͺ but if he is possessed, it might muddle the vision?? idk we can talk about it either way give me the weird shit fam
